Akshay Kumar’s latest hit set for its world TV premiere
Akshay Kumar’s hit Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, the highest grossing Hindi movie of the year, will have its TV premiere on the third anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.
Zee Cinema, The Home of Blockbuster Hindi Movies, brings Swachh Entertainment with the World Satellite Television Premiere of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha tomorrow, October 2 at 12 Noon.
In the film, Akshay plays Keshav, who struggles to save his marriage with Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar) when she is forced to defecate in the fields, kick-starting an awareness about sanitation and hygiene.
Talking about his film’s TV premiere, Akshay says, “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is an attempt to reach out to the Indian diaspora and highlight the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. As we celebrate the third year of this movement, we are steadily progressing towards the Clean India vision. Given the depth of Indian television’s reach, the film’s showcase on Zee Cinema will allow our message to penetrate to the smallest village".
“If Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is able to drive even a small change in our country’s cleanliness standards, I believe that we have achieved what we set out to do in the first place," says the actor, who has also produced the film.
Bhumi says her character’s challenges in the film are the real issues as it talks about the plight of many women in the country.
"The movie makes cleanliness and hygiene an important topic of discussion in every home and is a complete entertainment package that caters to the entire family and also subtly delivers a powerful message," she adds.
