YOUR GUIDE TO THE PERFECT BRIDAL LOOK

Avoid these common mistakes to bag your dream wedding look on your special day

- Prerna Gauba

Every girl wants to look her prettiest on her wedding. If you are a makeup newbie, here’re mistakes to not make if you want to shine on your D-day.

TOO MUCH, TOO BAD:

Remember that piling up lots of makeup can give you an unnatural, ‘made-up’ face. The idea of makeup is to enhance your features and make your skin look flawless. Tell your makeup artist that you are aiming at a fresh, natural look, and choose the best technique such as airbrush or waterproof makeup according to your skin type. Take a trial before you finalise the technique. Airbrush makeup may not look good if your skin is dry.

STICK TO YOUR NATURAL SKIN TONE:

Make sure you don’t change your skin tone with makeup. “Many brides want to look fair and end up changing their skintone. After a few hours, the makeup settles in and their face starts looking grey. This is a disaster,” says makeup artist Naina Arora.

DON’T GO MATCHEY:

You don’t have to match your eyeshadow and lipstick with your ensemble. “Many brides ask for pink eyeshadow and pink lipstick if they are wearing pink. This results in a very artificial look,” says makeup artist Kanchan Mehra. Choose from colour palettes that suit your skin tone and not your outfit.

AVOID SUPER HEAVY HAIRDOS:

Don’t wear too many extensions and avoid a super heavy bun. It will add to the weight of your hairdo, and by the end of the function, you will have a cramped neck. “Go for a light dupatta as once it’s pinned onto your hair, it can be very tough to manage,” says Arora.

DON’T FOLLOW TRENDS BLINDLY:

Do not get carried away by what you see on Instagram, unless you try in out in advance and see the results. Your makeup should be more ‘you’, and it should let you individuality shine.
