Actor Parineeti Chopra says ‘beautiful people’ helped her beat a low phase
She wasn’t seen in a film for over two years after Kill Dill (2014). Earlier this year, too, Parineeti Chopra faced failure with Meri Pyaari Bindu. But now, as the actor rides high on the success of Golmaal Again, she says an “emotionally low” phase is behind her, thanks to the “beautiful people” in her life.
Looking back, Parineeti says, “With every film, we have certain expectations, and Meri Pyaari Bindu was one such film. Whoever I’ve met says that they loved the film and for me, that, too, is success. It might not have made the money but it’s fine.”
And then came her big Friday. She says, “I feel that this one film (Golmaal Again) has made up for everything that happened in the past one or two years, because it’s not even a small success, it’s humongous. It’s not just a film that has made 100 crore, but it’s a film that is breaking records every day.”
This hit may have come now as a personal validation, but Parineeti’s identity as an actor was established a long time ago. She says, “Before my first film, nobody knew my talent. They just knew that I’m (actor) Priyanka Chopra’s cousin. I didn’t have any identity at that time. But that quickly changed after Hasee Toh Phasee (2014). I feel that having your own identity in the industry is very important. That doesn’t take away from the fact that Priyanka is my sister and my love, and treats me like a little baby. That’ll never go away.”
She also has a great support system in “beautiful people like my brother and my friend Sanjana, besides a few new friends”. With them by her side, Parineeti “got out of that situation with flying colours”. And right now, she says, “I feel amazing, really happy, like myself again.”
