Sulu is all set to enter Indian households
As 2017 slowly draws to a close, Bollywood seems to be wrapping the year up on a feel-good note. And according to its makers, Tumhari Sulu — starring Vidya Balan as an ambitious housewife who becomes a night radio jockey — is the perfect antidote for keeping the blues away this season.
A trade insider says, “Since it is a simple and heart-warming family film, audiences from across the board are waiting for it. In fact, celebrities from a cross-section of society watched the film at preview shows and have given its charm and simplicity a thumbs-up.”
Sources in the industry feel Tumhari Sulu has its heart in the right place, devoid of frills and cosmetic appendages. “Vidya’s Sulu act has resonated with people who believe that they have a talent that could become their life-altering goal,” says the insider.
The film boasts of acting chops from Vidya and Manav Kaul, who have been paired on-screen for the first time. “Their quirky chemistry, the husband-wife banter, and a relatable look at their middle-class Indian household is among the highlights of the film,” says the insider.
According to the makers, with the pre-release buzz going for it, Sulu is set to become a household name and one of the most-loved characters of Indian cinema.
Produced by T-Series and Ellipsis Entertainment, Tumhari Sulu releases today.
