Redefining healthy and tasty cooking
With a spell of good weather, rustic decor and live music – the second day of Hindustan Times Palate Fest 2017 gave a chance to aspiring master chefs to showcase their passion for cooking. Organised by Emami Healthy and Tasty Cooking Oil, a city-wide hunt for a chef was conducted wherein three shortlisted contestants competed against each other by cooking innovative yet tasty and healthy dishes using Emami Oil.
The fragrance of aromatic spices and nervousness filled the atmosphere as participants were seen doing last-minute touch ups of pouring, plating and garnishing their dishes. It was then time to taste and reveal one winning dish out of the three which were judged by Saurabh Gupta, sous chef, International Institute of Culinary Arts. Gupta, said, “The winning dish would be judged on the basis of the amount and flavour of oil it contains, the colour, texture and plating and the overall healthiness.” However, judging the contest wasn’t an easy affair, as each contestant had put in their very best in the final round.
In keeping with the parameters set by the judge, Vaibhav Pratap Singh ,a pharmacist, who prepared harissa fish with couscous and beetroot, was announced as the winner. On the victory, he said, “I chose to cook fish because it’s a healthy option and is packed with proteins. Moreover, with the use of Emami kachchi ghani mustard oil, it helped me enhance the flavour of the dish as it enriched with MUFA, ALA — Omega 3 known to help reduce cholesterol & risk of heart diseases”.
