Introducing a new concept in education
G etting education is every child’s right. Shefali
Varma, chairperson of
The Ardee Group of
Schools, talks about bringing excellence in education closer to home. She says:
All over the world, schools that are in close proximity to the child’s residence are taken into consideration. Unfortunately in Delhi, the name of school and the area of the plot take precedence over its proximity. This is idealistic more than practical and needs to change.
I believe that this is what we have achieved with the new Ardee School campus at New Friends Colony which today is the only true city school to have emerged as a credible alternative to the national capital’s privatelyrun, non-embassy international schools like the Step by Step World School, The British School, DPS International, among others.
Right from the IGSCE and IB International Certification to its architecture, every detail of The Ardee School is about the well-being and enrichment of students. The two-acre New Friends Colony campus houses a seven-storey ‘green building’. An amphitheater, which lies in the centre of the campus, has a 75-feet tall green wall. The school has all the specialist rooms for laboratories, art and music studios, covered break spaces, air-conditioned smart classrooms with Promethean smart boards, all planned at par with any other school in Delhi.
Like all other schools, our campus also has all the facilities of outdoor sports, a Soccer field, a Basketball court, cricket pitch, badminton and volley ball courts and a swimming pool. But here begins the change that the Ardee Schools have been famous for. These differences have been experienced and endorsed by every parent who has been a part of the schools since the first Ardee school opened in 2003.
Like all other schools, we were also forced to shut down during last month’s smog crisis in the capital. However, the teachers took classes from the school while children attended classes and interacted with their friends in a virtual classroom from their homes.
Ardee school, in just 2 acres, can offer 1000 students an alternative to the top international schools in Delhi which meet all expectations and the high standards of Delhi parents, both local and expatriate.
As the admission season approaches, we need to evolve and change our own mindsets to see which school is suitable to us and our children if we wish to remain relevant. That, in itself, is the first step to enhanced excellence in education.
