Here’s how to choose the right pair of earrings for your face type

Chunky, circular earrings and hoops look nice on a long face but those with round faces should steer clear of them, say experts. So, factors such as kind of metal, shape, and size, should be carefully considered while buying earrings. Oval-shaped faces have a round hairline and jaw. Short to mid-length tassel earrings are great for such faces, but anything that falls at your jaw or below will make your face appear much longer. Studs and triangular earrings will complement this face type the best. Triangular and squareshaped faces have a strong jawline. Try earrings that are rounded at the base and hit at, or below, the jawline, to add some curves and balance out the square jaw. Oblong and rectangular faces are longer than they are wide. Big earrings, including those with a rhombus shape, would better suit people with such faces. Round faces would be complemented well by long kundan earrings or danglers. Earrings that begin with a thin line and have a large interesting element at the bottom are ideal for this shape. Stay away from chunky circular earrings, hoops, and button studs as these will highlight the roundness of your face. Heart-shaped faces feature foreheads wider than the cheeks. People with such faces should go for chandeliers and tear-drop earrings that end at or above the chin.

Long and narrow faces require earrings that emphasise on the width of your face. Studs, clustered earrings, short danglers, and medium or large hoops will help create the illusion of a wider face and highlight your eyes. Diamond-shaped faces go well with chandelier earrings that are larger at the bottom. These will help balance out the angles of your face. Studs or earrings close to the ear are also recommended by experts. Avoid earrings that have the same shape as your face.
