Anchor, actor, and an avid traveller, Sonam C Chhabra has her hands full. She has finished shooting for her debut Hindi film Kirket, that is inspired from the life of MP and former cricketer Kirti Azad. The film is being helmed by Yogender Singh, and has been scripted by Vishal Vijay Kumar. Sonam’s latest play, Taj Mahal Ka Tender, a satire, has been received well and has more shows coming up. She will also be flying to Greece soon for an anchoring project. Sonam is happy with the response her celebrity talk show is garnering.

“As an artist, dabbling in so much at the same time helps me evolve. I don’t want to limit myself,” says Sonam, adding that she is open to doing more plays, films, and TV shows.

Sonam considers theatre personality Gajraj Nagar, from RAS Theatre Group, her mentor. “He inspired me to become an actor. And now that I’ve done my first film, I’m looking forward to taking up more acting projects,” she says.

On her sources of inspiration from the film fraternity, she says, “I look up to Priyanka Chopra. She is a global icon and a confident woman, who has worked really hard to become what she is today,” says Sonam, a trained Kathak dancer, who has won various awards for anchoring.

On the kind of content that interests her, Sonam states, “As an actor, I am open to films and shows that send out a strong message and enable me to give my best performance.”
