If a girl stares at you a lot, don’t just stare back. Do something!

- CYRUS BROACHA

Last week, I went for a movie with my friends and saw my girlfriend there with a guy. She didn’t see me though. Later, when I confronted her over the phone, she told me that the guy who was with her likes her a lot, and going for the movie was his idea. At the same time, she said she loves me and considers this guy just a friend. What do you think is the truth?

TT

TT, I think you should call the police. After all your girlfriend was physically dragged against her will to watch a movie with some ruthless guy. To me it sounds pretty shaky. But I’m a little suspicious by nature. I don’t even trust mutual funds. If she knows the guy likes her a lot, why is she encouraging him? Besides why didn’t she inform you about this ‘movie’ idea before going? As Shakespeare said in a speech at Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata, “Daal mai kuch kaala hai”. I don’t think she should encourage this guy. It’s not going to be good for your business. Your love business.

I have been married for a year. I met my wife on a marriage portal. Now, all of a sudden, she says that she got married to me because of parental pressure and has lost interest in our marriage. She doesn’t want a divorce because it would malign her reputation in the society. At the same time, she wants to live as a single woman within the marriage. I love her a lot and don’t know what to do. Please help.

SJ SJ, having just heard Hafiz Saeed Anti-India Speech, let me tell you your wife’s speech isn’t far behind. She wants an internal annulment of the marriage. And then live in the same house with you, but as a single woman? And what do you mean you love her a lot? Love doesn’t mean you have to humiliate yourself and give in to her absurd and cruel demands. SJ, face the truth and shoe some er... gonads. Tell her, its either an official divorce or you stay together. And remember to always keep the toilet seat up. No point letting her constantly have the upper hand.

A lot of girls in my college just stare at me; even when they’re with their boyfriends. My friends say it’s because I’m handsome and that these girls are interested in me. Could this be true?

Haresh

See, in the animal kingdom, if a bull stares at you, it means he’s going to gorge you with his horns. If a lioness stares at you, it means she’s lining you up for dinner. However in the human context, staring is usually done for one of the following reasons: (a) Desire, (b) Being in a coma, (c) Practicing X-ray vision, and (d) A need to find a loo. So Haresh, there’s a good chance they find you attractive, or they may be just searching for a loo. My point is, all this is immaterial. The real question is what are you going to do about this staring? What’s your response? Are you also just going to stare? Or are you going to preen? Or maybe say hello and take it further?

I have been dating a girl for the last four years. About six months back, I met another girl, and became good friends with her. Last week, she proposed to me. I want to say yes to her, but I’m worried my girlfriend will be hurt and devastated. Help.

Danish

Danish, firstly, why be named after a pastry? Secondly, why make a simple issue a complicated one? In his book Run Lola Run, Jogindar Singh, who went by the pen name Jogging, said, “when you run, use two feet, unless you are an antelope”. These are very wise words, the meaning is lost on all of us. Danish, its so simple, who do you like more? Girl 1? Or Girl 2? Follow your heart, and be fair to both. You must choose one and lose one.
