Here are tips to pack light when you are getting set for your vacation
Are you one of those who have difficulty packing light? Tired of paying for excess baggage at the airport? Well, it’s time to bid farewell to packing woes. Here are some easy tips:
Be ruthless: You need to constantly ask yourself if you really need what you are packing. Do you really need those extra pair of denims (you are going to be at the beach all day anyway). Is your hairdryer indispensible? (considering most hotel rooms are equipped with one). Prioritise and pick. App-solutely helpful: Apps require storage space in your phone, not your bag. So why not use mobile applications to demarcate spaces and decide what it is that you need the most. You can also create itineraries and pack more smartly. Apps also let you set alarms, schedule alerts, and create lists with interactive checkboxes that you can tick away when your bag gets sorted. Pack based on weight: Try this trick — if you are carrying two pairs of shoes, make sure you wear the
heavier ones and pack the lighter pair. The same thing can be done with jackets, sweaters and accessories. If you have an option between a
hardbound and a device to flip through ebooks, pick the latter. Play it smart to save on space. Keep your company in
mind: Practise sustainability while packing. If you are travelling with your friends and you know you can pick from each other’s wardrobes, feel free to discuss and indulge. Tshirts, pairs of beach shorts, flip-flops, and accessories such as sunglasses and hats can be shared to save space. Organise, organise,
organise: The suitcase or travel bag you choose, should not weigh you down. Rather than picking luggage that is high on kilos, divide and compartmentalise your luggage in different bags. For those travelling solo, invest in backpacks and haversacks. Another important point: Keep all documents such as passports, tickets, keys and money in a handbag within reach.
