Several studies have revealed that to stay healthy, it is important to have control over the three deadly sins — salt, sugar, and stress. So, here’s what you can do about it.

SALT: THE NECESSARY EVIL

Salt intake means the intake of sodium. While a shortage of sodium in the body is very bad, an excess of it is equally bad.

Kidneys generally flush out the excess sodium by making more or saltier urine. But beyond a point, when the kidneys can’t handle it, too much salt leads to water retention in the body, and that can lead to erratic blood flow.

Stop adding raw salt to salads, meals and raita. Processed foods, canned and dried soup, baked goods etc. are high on salt and should be avoided or eaten seldom.
