Alicia was ‘rescued’ from a sick situation

-

Actor Alicia Vikander has said that veteran star Julianne Moore once came out in her defence after a powerful Hollywood figure made a crude joke about her.

The Tomb Raider star said in a magazine interview that the incident happened on the sets of the 2014 film Seventh Son, and Moore not only reprimanded the person but also threatened to walk out of the film. “I was really embarrassed, and I’d have just laughed it off,” Vikander said. “But Julianne turned to him and said, ‘If you ever do that again, I’m walking out of here and I’m not coming back.’ She was just, like, ‘Don’t you f**king say that again.’ It showed me that she had the power. And that meant so much to me.”

Vikander was one of the prominent Hollywood personalities who turned up at the Golden Globes red carpet in black to support the Time’s Up campaign, for equality and against sexual misconduct and assault.

“It was such a community that came together. I got on the phone with Natalie (Portman, actor), whom I’d never met, and Reese (Witherspoon, actor). Suddenly, I felt like I made a lot of new friends,” said Vikander. She added, “One thing that really got to me in their initial e-mail was the fact that — because women are not as well represented in all industries — we often have to fight for jobs... Instead of getting to know each other, we learned at an early age to compete for that single spot. So, to... feel like I had actually made friends with the other actresses and people I admire, it was really cool.” PTI
