But 24 hours before the feeding frenzy of red roses, red balloons, red cupcakes, and red whatnot, gal pals across the world are raising a toast to Galentine’s Day, today. This is a day for lavishing affection not on a romantic partner, but on one’s best friend forever. This fabulous term, Galentine’s Day, was coined by a fictional character, named Leslie Knope, from the American sitcom Parks and Recreation. She described it as a day when the ladies leave their husbands and boyfriends behind and step out with their girlfriends to celebrate the bond of love that women share.
