SO, WHAT WAS SID’S BACHPAN KA SAPNA?
Students of Shri Ram College of Commerce were in for a treat when the Aiyaary team visited the college recently
Who would have thought that Delhi University students could go crazy over a dialogue from a Hindi film? But when Aiyaary actor Manoj Bajpayee mouthed his famous line, ‘Goli nahin maarenge saaley ko,’ from the superhit, Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), the crowd at once went into a frenzy, and echoed in unison, ‘Keh ke lenge uski’, completing the vow of revenge taken by Sardar Khan, Bajpayee’s character, in the film. A euphoria overtook the Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) campus in Delhi University, North Campus, as actors Sidharth Malhotra, Manoj Bajpayee, and Rakul Preet Singh visited the college to promote their upcoming film, Aiyaary.
A FILM BY DELHI UNIVERSITY GRADS
As Malhotra asked Bajpayee if the latter had visited the university before, he replied, “Main yahin se padha hua hoon. There is nothing like Delhi University,” to a rousing reception. Sidharth then shared, “Mera bachpan se sapna tha ki yahan (SRCC) padhoon, lekin yahan ki cutoff badi high jaati hai. But I am from Delhi University, and so is Rakul Preet, and our director, Neeraj Pandey. This film is made by DU graduates.”
FLOWER POWER
Malhotra saw an opportunity to wish the girls, V-Day in advance, giving them roses and tossed bouquets into the crowd, as part of a promotional event organised by the PG students of the Global Business Operations course and the students’ union of the college. Anil Kumar, the course coordinator, said, “The responsibility was on these students. From inviting the artists to construction, everything was looked after by them.”
SIDHARTH MALHOTRA REVEALED THAT IT WAS HIS CHILDHOOD DREAM TO STUDY AT SRCC, BUT HE COULDN’T MAKE IT DUE TO THE HIGH CUTOFFS!
