Kartik Aaryan is not afraid of getting typecast in romantic comedies

Actor Kartik Aaryan began his career in Bollywood with the 2011 romantic comedy, Pyaar Ka Punchnama (PKP), and since then, he has done five films, all of which have been about love and relationships.

Kartik says, “I was offered a lot of romantic and comedy films. PKP was a huge success, and even the sequel did well. I became very choosy after that, and did one film next — Guest in London (2017); it was earlier titled Atithi In London.”

However, the actor , who next stars in Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, has no qualms about repeating the same genre. “I realise that I have had a lot of films in the similar space, but I have absolutely no qualms. It does happen sometimes that you aren’t able to understand whether you should go for a particular film or not, and you are left with only one or two choices,” says Kartik.

“You have to choose between them, and I did the same. I wasn’t afraid that I will get stereotyped. I have rejected many films, owing to my choosiness now,” he adds.

Interestingly, for the upcoming film, he has teamed up with actor Nushrat Bharucha for the fourth time, after the Pyaar Ka Punchnaama series (2011 and 2015), and Akaash Vaani (2013). All praise for Nushrat, Kartik says, “It’s a cakewalk for me and Nushrat, as it has become very easy for us to understand each other, and reciprocate. I know how she will react in a situation. She has always been very supportive, and we share a thick bond. I am really happy that people are liking it [us together in films].”
