Fill the air with goodness

- Ankita Rawat ankita.rawat@htlive.com

Community welfare and social responsibility have been the cornerstone of

Daikin. The world’s leading air-conditioning organisation has been investing in several projects of community development though various noble routes.

In India, Daikin took an early initiative to first support a school in Neemrana in Rajasthan by airconditioning the classrooms. The air-conditioned classrooms were a relief for village children who would walk for miles to reach the school during the sweltering summers of Rajasthan.

The next community welfare step they adopted was hiring manpower from the Noida Deaf Society (NDS). The company raised their engagement with the pupils of NDS that culminated with a charity cricket match with the Delhi Daredevils Team last year, in the presence of cricketers Rahul Dravid, KJ Jawa and Hemant Dua.

And that’s not all. In line with the Government of India’s Beti Bachao, Beti Padao programme, Daikin launched the first girls-only batch in the HVAC industry (heating, ventilation and airconditioning) workforce. These girls now work with Daikin India and mirror Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of upgrading the standards of Skill in India and making the youth of India employable and independent.

Now that Daikin India is bestowed with the responsibility of institutionalising and operating Japanese Institute of Management (JIM) at Neemrana, Rajasthan, they will be imparting skill and development curriculum to the youth of India with a view to enhance the quality of the workforce in the country.

“This association reflects as a fine example of private and government partnership, and not only cements Daikin’s reputation within the HVAC industry but underlines our philosophy of being a socially responsible organisation, with human growth and development at its core,” says

Kanwal Jeet Jawa, MD and CEO, Daikin, India.

He adds, “Daikin India, though JIM, would be able to nurture and develop human skill and competencies, with a view to address the skilled manpower challenge for our partners and the industry, as a whole in India. Underlining our brand tagline — Fill the Air with Goodness, we are ready to take the goodness further by calling all the girls of the first batch at JIM to pose with the Delhi Daredevils Team, today. The team has been a part of the our goodness philosophy since 2015. We believe that goodness can turn into greatness, when we unite to take the right step.”
