Exhibiting the crunchy goodness
The 33rd edition of Aahar 2018 — the international food and hospitality fair — saw over 900 exhibitors from India and overseas. A wide range of food products, machinery and equipments were showcased at the fiveday event held at Pragati Maidan, Delhi.
Washington Apples also participated in the food and hospitality fair, and saw a huge turnout at their stall. The brand showcased a wide variety of apples, namely Red Delicious, Fuji, Cripps Pink, Gala and Granny Smith.
Talking about their association with Aahar, Sumit Saran, India representative, Washington Apple Commission said, “Aahar is India’s largest trade show. We get to meet distributors, importers and wholesalers from across the country. So, it is one of the most important trade shows for Washington Apples. We also get the opportunity to showcase its varieties and quality to our buyers. So, we make it a point to be a part of Aahar everytime.”
Talking about what differentiates the brand from its competitors, Saran adds, “The USP lies in the tender love, care, and scientific inputs that goes into growing these apples. They grow in the Northwest state of Washington, and are among the best grown and tastiest apples, because of the climate and water conditions. India is the third largest market for Washington Apples in the world. The first two markets are Mexico and Canada. In the past, we only used to get Red Delicious apples (a variety of Washington Apple), but this year, we are seeing more varieties.”
The Washington Apples’ stall was graced by Jeff Saxton, deputy chief of mission (acting), US Embassy, Delhi, and Jeanne F Bailey, minister counselor for agricultural affairs, US Embassy.
