LAURA MIGHT BE BACK IN DINO MOVIE
Actor Jeff Goldblum has hinted at the possibility of Laura Dern returning to the Jurassic Park franchise. Goldblum, 65, who is reprising his franchise role of Dr Ian Malcolm in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, teased about Dern’s character, the paleobotanist Ellie Sattler — seen in the first Jurassic Park (1993) — coming back for a cameo in the new film.
“I don’t want to pass on gossip like my character. But it would be good news to me and to everyone, [to] millions and billions of people all over the world, all over the universe and cosmos, when Ellie Sattler returns,” Goldblum told Entertainment Tonight. He and Dern starred in Steven Spielberg’s original movie, along with Sam Neill, who played the role of Dr Alan Grant, the person who sort of saves everyone.
While Goldblum reprised his role in the sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Dern had a cameo in Jurassic Park III (2001). She had also expressed her desire to return to the franchise in December last year. “[It] could be fun. I mean, I love Ellie Sattler. She’s a tough feminist! We need her back,” Dern had said then. Actor Cameron Diaz may not be retiring from acting, but she has been living a much quieter life with her husband and guitarist Benji Madden since their marriage in 2015.
As the star of films such as The Mask (1994), There’s Something About Mary (1998), two Charlie’s Angels movies, and the voice of Princess Fiona in the Shrek franchise, Diaz was one of Hollywood’s biggest stars for years. Her last major release, Annie, was in 2014.
“I can’t say whether or not she will go back to being a fulltime actress, but for now she has other interests, causes she believes in, and time to pursue them,” a source told people.com. “Cameron has made a wonderful life for herself. Marriage agrees with her. He came along at the right time in her life... Cameron has never had a romance like this one...” added the source.
