When Anupam Kher met Danny Boyle in New York!
Last month, Hollywood star Robert De Niro surprised Anupam Kher by hosting a surprise birthday dinner (on March 7) for him. After that, Kher took his Silver Linings Playbook (2012) co-star De Niro, his wife Grace, director David O Russell and a few other friends to a popular Indian restaurant in New York.
Now, in the latest instance, we have come to know that Kher recently met Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle of Slumdog Millionaire (2008) and 127 Hours (2010) fame when the Indian actor was shooting in New York for NBC’s next international series.
“Not many know, but it’s true that the two met a few days back. Anupam and Danny have always shared a warm equation. In fact, the award-winning film-maker even held a special session at the actor’s acting school in Mumbai during his trip to India in 2007 during which he was quizzed on several aspects of acting and direction. Ever since, Anupam has kept in touch with Danny,” says an insider close to the actor.
Apparently, when the two got to know that they were in New York at the same time, they immediately worked their schedules around to catch up. “Both of them met each other after a really long time, so they had a lot to catch up on. Danny was very interested to know what Anupam has been busy with of late and vice versa. Although they had quite a lon meeting, the rest of the detail of their conversation are unknown,” says the insider. Kher couldn’t be reached for comment.
