Smriti Kalra never shies away from experimenting with her looks, and characters that she plays onscreen. Be it portraying an overweight Simmi in 12/24 Karol Bagh, a small town achiever in Suvreen Guggal Topper of The Year, a childwoman in Itti Si Khushi or as confident, sexy grey Ahana in Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara, the Delhi-born actor has managed to pull off all the characters with ease.

Smriti says that it is conscious on her part to choose such roles and also experiment with the way her onscreen characters look.

“I wait patiently till I get the right kind of roles. And when I get one, I strive hard to do justice to each of them. All the characters that I have essayed so far, have been a conscious pick up because I was always sure about one thing when I started my career — that I won’t stop myself from experimenting,” says Smriti.

While the makers of the shows decide the concept and narrative, Smriti, on her part, takes interest in how the role should look, and even shares ideas with the makers. “I put in a lot of thought and effort in my looks for each of my roles. I push for what I believe in. So, along with the entire team of any project, I work on presenting a new look each time.”

In her personal life, too, Smriti loves to play around with her looks. She shares that her style mantra is to stay simple. “On any given day, light and breezy is my mantra.”
