CELEBRATE EARTH DAY WITH EVENTS ACROSS THE CAPITAL
There couldn’t be a better day than the Earth Day (April 22) to do our bit for Mother Earth. The theme for the day this year is ‘End Plastic Pollution’, and there’s a lot happening in the city to help one spread awareness.
PLASTIC KA PED
Participate in workshops on reusing and recycling and solar conservation, and hear Gurgaon-based Rahul Khera speak about garbage and waste disposal techniques. There will also be sessions on papier mache by Preeti Gupta and on upcycling apparels, by Bhawna Pingali Dutta, apart from those on paper origami and calligraphy.

WALK FOR MOTHER EARTH
Walk for mother earth this Sunday, organised with the objective of conserving the environment. “Till now maximum focus has been on three R’s (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle). The question is what one can do on an individual level. We’ll be focusing on the fourth ‘R’, i.e. relief. There will be talks on environment change and a nukkad natak (street play), too,” says Parwesh Singh, the organiser. Where: Leisure Valley, Sector 29, Gurugram; 7am
EARTH DAY CYCLOTHON
Burn fat and save fuel. Go ecofriendly by celebrating earth day through a cyclothon that is being organised today, across categories such as 4Km, 12.5km and 25Km. A portion of the ticket price goes towards supporting the education of underprivileged children. Where:Opp Huda City Centre, Gurugram; 5am
END PLASTIC POLLUTION
As the mercury soars, it becomes difficult for strays to find water. The event aims to create a dialogue for discouraging the use of plastic and keeping water for strays and birds. It will see the distribution of free water bowls for birds and dogs, and the collection of funds to install concrete water tubs near cow grazing dumps.
