For many years now, Bollywood stars have made their presence felt at the Cannes Film Festival. This year too, a bevy of desi beauties will be seen at the prestigious fest. In the latest instance, we have learnt that Huma Qureshi joins the list of Indian celebrities set to attend the 11day gala from May 8 to May 19.

“Yes, it’s true that Huma will soon be travelling to the French Riviera as an ambassador of Indian cinema. She will be walking the red carpet as well as attend afterparties in association with a brand,” says an insider. Huma, is no stranger to international festivals right from the start of her career. She first travelled to Cannes for her debut film, Gangs of Wasseypur in 2012. Last year, she also attended the Berlin Film Festival for the world premiere of her debut international film,, Gurinder Chadha’s Viceroy’s House. “This year, Huma will be at the India Pavilion, besides several other festival-related events. She is excited to return to the festival as a representative of Indian cinema, and discuss the role of independent films,” says the insider.

Huma, who will apparently be at Cannes for almost the entire duration of the festival, says, “I look forward to attending the 71st Cannes Film Festival. It’s always a pleasure to represent Indian cinema at one of the most prestigious global platforms. Cannes especially holds a special place in my heart as I travelled there for my very first film.”
