‘If I can be even 50% of what my father is, my baby will have a lovely life’
Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh and wife Rukmini Sahay are expecting their first child before the year ends. While Neil is both excited and nervous about this new phase in his life, he says that he hopes to be the kind of dad his father, singer Nitin Mukesh, is. The actor says that he and his siblings owe their father a lot for never being overbearing.
“My father never pressured us by expecting us to prove something or become someone he wanted. He just let us be and let us decide what we wanted to become in life. I think that this confidence has allowed us to become what we are, and [made us] work harder to follow our dreams,” says Neil, who will soon be seen in Saaho.
Neil and Rukmini tied the knot in February 2017. Ever since the couple announced the pregnancy in April, Neil has been balancing his work commitments and shopping for their child.
“Luckily, I’ve grown up in a great family. If I can be even 50% of what my father is, I think my baby will have a lovely life, because I think dad has been so relaxed with us. Boy or girl, I just want my child to be happy and healthy,” he says.
Neil will be working around the time Rukmini delivers and he looks at it as a positive sign.
“When my brother was born, my father had to go for shows. I look at it as a good sign that the child will bring prosperity and joy for everyone,” he says.
