Here’s why Sana Khan feels like the odd one out at film parties

Sana Khan might not have signed any new project recently, but the actor is clear in her mind that she “can’t become something else to please somebody”. Sana, who was seen in the film Wajah Tum Ho (2016) in a lead role and then followed it up with a cameo in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017), says that her standards of being on good terms with people are quite different from what most people follow in the film industry.
“For me, being in someone’s good books is to keep your behaviour good. When you are working, be the director’s and producer’s actor. Value their time and money, be punctual, disciplined, and don’t misuse perks that you get as an actor,” says Sana, adding that she has witnessed some really bizarre things on sets.
“I have seen people jo set par se khana pack kar ke ghar leke jate hain — lunch, snacks, and even dinner. If you look at my plate, I only have salad, chicken, and juice, and that’s how I am. I know where to draw the line. If I want anything, I’ll ask. I won’t break protocols. For me, that’s keeping a good relationship. Being in good books is not always important and maybe the book is different for me. I keep my sanctity and respect intact. If people don’t like [it] and can’t appreciate [it], that’s their problem. You can’t become something else to please somebody,” maintains the actor, who was also seen in TV shows such as Bigg Boss, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi, and Comedy Nights Bachao.
Sana goes on to reveal that it’s not just film sets but even film parties where she often feels like the odd one out.
“I don’t party [much]. I go out if my friend is throwing a birthday party. And I have to be back by 12.30 or maximum by 1am. I come from that [kind of] family background. I don’t drink or smoke, don’t do drugs,” says Sana.
She goes on to say, “People don’t like me, maybe because I’m sober. At parties, I’m mostly alert. Sometimes, people would say, ‘wine is not alcohol’, but I still don’t take it. I don’t understand the purpose or agenda of getting everyone drunk at these parties. For me, it’s about a get-together of likeminded people and often, you don’t fit in,” concludes the actor.
