Ranbir-Alia found love in Bulgaria
Putting an end to weeks of speculation, actor Ranbir Kapoor has confirmed in an interview that he is dating actor Alia Bhatt. Ranbir was quoted as saying, “It’s really new right now, and I don’t want to overspeak. [The relationship] needs time to breathe and it needs space. It’s new for us, so let it cook a bit.”
A source close to the couple reveals that it all started when Alia and Ranbir were cast in Ayan Mukerji’s next film, Brahmastra. “Alia spoke about how getting to work with Ranbir was a dream come true for her and that she had a [teenage] crush on the Saawariya actor,” says the source. “The two took off to Bulgaria, first for a recce with Ayan and then later for the film’s shoot. Alia and Ranbir also spent New Year’s Eve in Bulgaria and Alia’s Instagram [photograph] was proof of their budding friendship.”
Soon afterwards, watching a special show of Raazi just before its official release, Ranbir was all praise for Alia and said that he had a “boy crush on her”. But it was only at the wedding reception of Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja that the two threw caution to the wind by arriving together, looking in love.
From Alia’s Instagram posts, it seems as if Ranbir’s family has given their nod of approval to the relationship. Ranbir’s mother Neetu Kapoor often leaves comments on Alia’s posts, and Ranbir’s sister, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, recently sent Alia a bracelet that the latter couldn’t stop raving about. While most fans on Instagram are ecstatic, some are upset with the news of their fave actors getting together. A few others also think of it as a publicity stunt for Ranbir’s new film that’s up for release.
