I don’t want to be in a livein relationship: Alia Bhatt

Be it Anushka SharmaVirat Kohli, Sonam K Ahuja-Anand S Ahuja or Neha Dhupia-Angad Bedi, Bollywood seems to be in marriage mode. At 25, Alia Bhatt is among the youngest, and one of the most happening single women in the industry, though very recently her relationship status changed — her Brahmastra co-star Ranbir Kapoor has revealed that they are dating.

But there’s no telling if and when Alia might consider marrying. Around the release of Raazi, she told us that she hasn’t set “any deadline” for it.

The actor tells us, “I’m not thinking about getting married right now. But honestly, I’m not someone who thinks about things. I just go ahead and do them (laughs).”

Prodded further, she adds, “It could be a very random thing since I consider myself a random person. So, I may make these decisions also at random. I’m not someone who plans out my life thinking, ‘Well, that’s how it should be done.’ I feel the best things in life should happen when they are least expected. Maybe, people expect me to marry at 30, but I can surprise myself as well and marry before that.

“Nothing is cast in stone, right? So, if I feel that I’m in a position where I want to take such a step, then I will.”

One thing Alia is sure of is the reason she’d marry. “I’ve always believed that I’d get married because of kids. So, if I am like, ‘This is the time I want to have my children,’ then I will get married,” she says.

All other factors are fluid. Alia says again, “I haven’t set any deadline, because it doesn’t really matter. I may be like, ‘Listen, I love you, so let’s get married and live together but I will still work.’ So, I may get married just to live with that person... I don’t want to be in a live-in relationship. I don’t want to live with someone until I get married.”

Is it easy — or not — for a young, famous and successful person to find happiness, we ask. Alia says, “Anything can give you happiness. A few days ago, I went for the shramdaan with Aamir Khan, which, of course, involved hard work. It wasn’t easy, so it’s not as if I was smiling through it. But regardless of that, it gave me a lot of happiness. Even when it comes to work, sometimes, although I burden myself with certain characters, they also give me happiness. In that case, it’s like a little bit of a catch-22 situation.”
