After a high-octane performance by contemporary fusionrock band Indian Ocean last Friday, Delhi-NCR is ready for a ‘euphoric’ jam this Friday. At the Hindustan Times DLF Cyber Hub Friday Jam Season 5, powered by Too Yumm and Nearbuy.com tonight, popular band Euphoria will be performing on stage. They will be belting out their hits such as Dhoom, Maaeri, Rok Sako To Rok Lo, Aana Meri Gully, Mehfuz, among others.

“We are bringing happiness, entertainment and lots of dhoom for the people of Delhi and Gurugram,” says the band’s frontman Palash Sen, adding, “Coming to Friday Jam is like coming back to your family, all over again. So, the excitement is even more. I am very happy, as this is the time when we are trying to bring our music out to the people. We have realised over the years that it’s very difficult for the major labels to support non-film music. Now we are doing it single-handedly and on our own.”

The band, which has been making waves in the music industry since 1998, recently completed 20 years in the music industry this year. The secret to band’s success is that it has blurred the lines of rock, pop and folk with it’s popular numbers, and has stayed relevant through the years.

“The music we do is an expression of the people we are and what we believe in. Our honesty connects with the people (fans). Everybody in the band has their own musical influences. Like, I have heard Rock and Hindi music all my life, DJ (Debajyoti Bhaduri) has heard a lot of Jazz in his life. Rakesh and Prashant bring in classical influences [to the band].”

“This is the third year in a row of performing at Friday Jam. I could say it’s like a midsummer night’s dream (laughs). We hardly have a pre-planned show ever, as everything is dependent on the audience’s reaction. Each one is a new one, and going to be great as any other show,” says bass guitarist Debajyoti Bhaduri.

Music lovers in Delhi-NCR have an added reason to rejoice, as Euphoria will dole out not just their fans’ favourites, but also some new numbers. “Everything that we do tonight is going to be showstopping stuff. It’s my endeavour to be relevant to people from the age of fiveyear-old to a 75-year-old. People don’t get tired of singing Dhoom Pichak, Maaeri or Aana Meri Gully, with me. We’ll also be playing our brand new song Alvida and Jiya Jaaye, and some stuff that people haven’t heard from us in many years,” says Palash.

He adds, “If anybody is going anywhere else on the Friday, they are missing out on a great show (laughs).”
