How to ace the Kim Kardashian look of matching your iris to your eye shadow

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian West always manages to grab attention through her fashion choices and makeup. And recently, at the CFDA awards, Kim’s eye makeup drew admiration from all corners. Her makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic’s skill swept us off our feet as he matched her eye makeup to her eye colour. Her eyelids had a flattering glossy effect and the entire look effused finesse.

While matching the eye colour to the eye shadow is trend that has been there for a while now, there are only few risk-takers who manage to do justice to it, and Kim is one of them.

The 37-year-old pulled a similar look last month at the Met Gala by using the same tone of eye shadow as that of her hazel contact lenses. Her gold chainmail Versace dress at the event was complemented well by her smoky eye makeup, taking her oomph factor several notches.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

Those with black eyes can use contact lenses in shades of grey, hazel, or brown to match their eye makeup. Using the same shade of the eye shadow as the colour of your iris will help draw attention to your eyes. So, balance the makeup on the rest of your face accordingly. It is best to go for this look when you are keeping your outfit very simple and want to play up your eyes. Keep the eyelids glossy for a glamorous effect. An easy hack is to top the eye shadow with a lip gloss for a super glossy effect.

Decided to go for blue contact lenses and with blue eye shadow? Choose a navy blue eye shadow and use some gold shadow as an accent colour on the crease. You can even line your lid with the shade to help your eyes pop. A word of caution while using colours such as green or blue — keep in mind your complexion and outfit lest you end up looking garish.
