Donation and charity on Eijaz Khan’s mind this Eid

Actor Eijaz Khan believes that this Eid is going to be the most special for him, as he will be able to spend the whole day with his family, after a long time.

“As time passes by, I am becoming more familyoriented. The whole of my Eid will be spent with them. In the last many years, I was always busy with work, and it has been a long time since I spent time with my family. [But it will not be so] this time!” he says, revealing how he plans to go about the day.

“There’s a thing called Zakat, which is one of the primary institutions in Islam. According to this, you need to give away some percent of your total income to orphans and women. Firstly, I am giving away all my clothes that have been lying unused, complete with the price tags on, to people who need them more, Hopefully, they will have a great Eid with those new clothes,” he says.

On being asked to recall his fondest memories of Eid from his childhood days, Eijaz has a rather surprising answer. “I think the most special memory is yet to come. I have never got to spend time with my niece, nephew and sister. I really want to do that. The most special Eid will be when I get to do that,” he says.

The actor shares how he plans to spend Eid: “After offering my namaz at 8 in the morning, I will go to Bhandup (in Mumbai; Eijaz stays alone), we will play cricket or something. And then, in the evening, I’ll head out for a party that I have been invited to by my show Moh Moh Ke Dhaage’s producer Saba Mumtaz. There, I am looking forward to meeting my colleagues from the show,” says Eijaz.

Eidi (money, gifts and blessings that younger people in a family get on Eid) is an exciting aspect of the festival for many. Does he still get Eidi from his family? “No!,” he laughs, “It’s the other way round. Well, I get gifts for everyone now,” he signs off.
