USE A MINERALISED FINE POWDER TO SET THE MAKEUP BASE GIVING YOUR LOOK A NATURAL FINISH

Makeup can be either be your best friend or your worst enemy, depending on how you use it. To get the trick right, here are some do’s and don’ts listed by experts

Wash your face and apply a moisturiser depending on the skin type 15 minutes before pruning the skin.

Use a primer that helps the foundation to have a smooth surface to settle on.

It is important to know how to apply foundation. If you have dry skin, use any kind, but if you have an oily skin, use only water based foundations. And while applying it, don’t use your hands to rub it. Instead, tap it on the skin with fingers.

Don’t mix correctors with concealers. Corrector will correct one’s skin tone whereas the concealer will conceal the corrector and foundation.

Use a fine powder to set the makeup base giving it a natural finish. Matching the same colour eye shadow, lipstick and nail polish with clothes is a big no. This will make the look more unidimensional and not appealing.

* Heavy punched-in-the-face kind of smokey eyes is a turnoff. Blend it well.

Go for a blush that is closest to your skin tone. Fair people can try peaches. Nude, red and brown-coloured blush look best on dusky people.

Using same colour lip liner all over your lips and following with lipstick is important for the lipstick to have a long stay.

Water-proof mascara is amazing, but not always. The water-resistant formula can dry out your lashes causing them to break easily. Also, removing the waterproof mascara takes a whole of effort which can damage your lashes. Keep it reserved for parties only.

Dump products that have crossed the expiry date. Expired products are not safe to use and can lead to allergies and irritation.

Makeup brushes are important tools that give you the right finish. Keep them clean; wash them regularly with warm water and detergent and then soak them in antiseptic liquid before drying out.

Bronzers are the next big thing in the makeup world. But while everyone wants to use the bronzer for that sun-kissed look, wearing too much of it can backfire. Use it in small quantities on the jaw line and at edges of temples and sides of the nose bridge for a natural warm glow.
