City’s good Samaritans saving lives

In its relentless commitment to serve the community, Aarone Group along with Select CITYWALK, one of the most popular shopping centres in Delhi, in association with Bagrry’s and Maheshwari Club got together to organise yet another blood donation camp recently. Talking about the camp, a regular blood donor himself, Nimish Arora, director, Aarone Group, explains, “We have been organising blood donation drives at Select CityWALK mall for over twoand-a-half years. This is the eighth camp, and we have successfully collected about 1,500-1,600 units of blood, which can help approximately 4,500 people. We tie up with one of the Rotary Blood Banks, which is a charity organisation, and they collect this blood from here. Then, it is stored in their bank and is used only for charitable purposes for the lower strata of society, considering the scarcity of blood in government hospitals. This is a cause close to my heart. Blood is something that can’t be replicated, replaced, and manufactured. The purpose of holding this camp in this mall is because of the mall’s popularity. As a large number of people walk in everyday, we are able to raise blood donation awareness at a larger scale, because of which, we get a lot of first-time donors. This time, we have done a small tie-up with CII young entrepreneurs, too, and their volunteers are creating awareness about organ donation as well.”

At the camp, 20-year-old Sneha Sharma, a first-time donor, shared her experience. “I got to know about the importance of donating blood and thought if I could help someone, I must do so by donating my own blood. I’ll try doing it whenever possible,” she says.
