NEHA KAKKAR TO ROCK FRIDAY JAM GRAND FINALE

Folk fusion, hard rock, eavy metal to Indian assical, the five weeks of riday Jam Season 5 have en defined by high-octane rformances by singer Guru andhawa, bands such as dian Ocean, Euphoria, asya and Tarkash. And, this eek, the finale promises to be grander than ever, and Kakkar is thrilled to perform. “Yes, of course, I am excited! Hindustan Times is such a renowned publicatio­n. It is a pleasure to be a part of this event. I am coming to promote my new single Yaariyan in addition to a couple of my hit numbers. Keep showering your love on me like you always do. It’s always a pleasure to perform for you’ll (Delhiites),” she says. For the singer who grew up in the Capital, the city holds a special place in her heart. “I’ve been performing in Delhi for several years now. The best memories I have of performing in Delhi, as a child, are at mata ki chowkis and jagraatas with my sister Sonu and brother Tony,” she says.

Success to her has come with years of hard work, and the singer’s stint with a music reality show brought her to the limelight. As advice to the budding singers, she says, “Stay focused. Hard work goes a long way and grab every opportunit­y that one gets. Life is too short. Make the most of it.”

Apart from the headlining act, the Hindi rock band Bismil is also set to make you groove to retro hits of actor Shammi Kapoor along with some Sufi hit numbers. “Bismil means lover. And reiteratin­g that we are all above love for music, and live performanc­es that no music lover can stay away from. We hope to have the audience on its toes with a rocking mix of Sufi, Bollywood and retro numbers at the Jam,” says band lead vocalist Asif Khan, a classical singer and a DU graduate.
