Bid adieu to monsoon skin woes

-

After days of severe heat and dust, monsoon brings some relief and relaxation. But, we cannot deny the fact that it also brings along with it several issues such as skin allergies, acne breakouts, dandruff problems and frizzy hair, among others.

Drizzle can cause the formation of fungus and these bacteria multiply at a rapid rate in monsoon. The rise in the oil secretion in the body leads to skin and hair related issues. Skin allergies such as non-bullous and bullous impetigo, fungal infections, continuous folliculitis, tinea capitis (fungal infection of hair) are rampant in monsoon. So are diseases such as nail infection, Athlete's foot,

EXFOLIATION IS MANDATORY IN MONSOON SEASON. A LOT OF PEOPLE TEND TO SUFFER FROM CLOGGED PORES AND ACNE PROBLEMS DURING THIS SEASON

acne, fungal infections, scabies fizzy hair, etc.

“During monsoon, nails tend to become brittle and are at a risk of fungal infections. They become discoloured and dull. Also, wet socks tend to cause fungal infections in feet which make it a painful disease,” says Dr Rohit Batra, dermatologist.

Dr Batra added, “Also, dandruff usually increases during the monsoon season which in turn leads to fungal infections. Use anti-dandruff shampoo and avoid putting excess oil on your hair as it will only increase the problem of dandruff.”

Dr Deepti Dhillon, dermatologist, Appleskin clinic, says, “Exfoliation is a mandatory procedure during the rainy season. A lot of people tend to suffer from clogged pores and acne problems during this season. Here, skin becomes the germination ground for different types of bacteria. So, those who suffer from such problems need to make sure that they visit a dermatologist for carbon peel and microdermabrasion every 15 days or twice a week at home. Also, one should choose gel based cosmeceutical products. This will help in preventing clogging of pores. Also, use moisturisers and sunscreens that have matte finish and have a lighter impact on the skin.”

Also the humid weather during the rains leads to continuous sweating which clogs up all the pores of your face resulting in unwanted whiteheads and blackheads. So, if you are facing similar problems every monsoon, then one should choose the treatments and products correctly.
