He has tasted immense success with his Dulhania franchise and director Shashank Khaitan has once again hit the bullseye with his latest release, Dhadak. With this success, he now has a hat-trick of victories at the box office.
The film starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, collected `8.71 crore on the first day. Produced by Dharma Productions and Zee Studios, it has got the biggest opening for a film starring newcomers in recent times. This has beat the record held by Student of the Year (2012), which collected about `8 crore on its first day.
Talking about the success, of this adaptation of the Marathi hit, Sairat, Shashank says, “People are connecting to the innocence of the characters. There are some things that we have done differently from the original, and people have been appreciating that.”
Like his other films, this time too, Shashank’s understanding of heartland romances, strong dialogues, and soulful music has created magic. Ishaan and Janhvi’s portrayals of Madhukar and Parthavi, respectively, have connected with the audiences and they are receiving a lot of love.
“I react to stories that come from my heart. I tell stories the way I have seen them growing up,” says Shashank, who can now be counted among the most successful commercial directors in Bollywood.
There was always a lot of buzz around the film, and Ishaan and Janhvi left no stones unturned to promote it. Their efforts have paid off, as they are receiving a lot of positive comments.
