No one in this country cares to promote good talent: Kailash Kher

- Samarth Goyal

Singer-songwriter Kailash Kher, who on his birthday earlier this month, introduced two bands under his music label, insists that the country has no dearth of talent, and he strongly feels that it needs to be promoted and encouraged in the right way to keep “creating music,” without any problems.

“You will see them playing on the roadside, living in poor conditions, with no one to recognise their talent, and encourage them to focus on creating music,” he says.

The 45-year-old argues that the unknown yet talented musicians are as good as some of the biggest musicians in this country. “You will find a Shreya Ghoshal, a Sonu Nigam, and a Badshah on every street in this country. But as I said, no one cares to promote them. My dream is to go to every corner of the country and find such talented musicians,” adds Kailash.

Promoting new talent should be an established musician’s “responsibility,” and Kailash hopes that others established musicians will soon follow suit too.

“I am not saying that the other musicians are wrong [in case] they don’t [choose to] promote new talent. But I feel that it’s a musician’s responsibility. I don’t care about the money that I have earned in my life. Whatever I have is enough for me, and I want to use the money and fame to help others who are passionate about music to establish themselves,” he says.
