Celebrating women behind the lens and their creativity
Outstanding works of 11 women photographers from across the world will be on display in the Capital for a week
Organised by the International Women Photographers Association annually, the International Women Photographers Award (IWPA) had some great entries this year, too. The final selection is up for viewing at an exhibition in the Capital. Works of 11 outstanding lenswomen will be on display for a week, starting today.
The selected photographers hail from the Middle East, Asia, Europe and South America, and were selected from 60 short-listed candidates, picked from over 600 entries from 82 countries. They could present their own theme, or stick to this year’s ‘Visible/ Invisible’.
Each work represents the diversity, richness, and story behind the photograph — the quality of work that helped them bag the top 11 spots.
Laureate Constanza Portnoy’s (Argentina) work, for instance, is a must-see. Her powerful and moving series, Force of Life, portrays the life of people with disabilities. The photos reflect the compassion

“I feel excited, honoured and very happy. Especially because, in Argentina, it is very difficult now to raise awareness about this issue. Unfortunately, the rights of people with disabilities are very vulnerable” says Portnoy.
The other finalists as part of the exhibition are Manyatsa Monyamane (from South Africa), Loulou Daki (Sweden), Annalisa Natali Murri (Italy), Estelle Lagarde (France), Laetitia Vancon (France), Tahmineh Monzavi (Iran), Elahe Abdolahaba (Iran), Alice Mann (South Africa), ShuChen Chen (Taiwan) and Marylise Vigneau (France).
