Actor Ishita Raj Sharma, who made her debut in 2011 with Pyar Ka Punchnama (PKP) and played a “bitchy” character in its 2015 sequel, says she’s “far from being bitchy”.

“I feel I’m gullible and sweet. Sometimes people tell me that I need to be rude and mean, but I can’t; that’s not who I am. However, as an actor, one should play different roles. In the future, I’d like to play characters where I can relate to the role more,” said Ishita, while attending designer Reynu Taandon’s show at the recently concluded India Couture Week 2018, presented by Hindustan Times and Sunil Sethi Design Alliance in Delhi.

Speaking about being part of the hit film, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, the actor said, “I feel blessed. The film has done phenomenally well and we all are so thankful to everyone for speaking so highly about it.”

Ishita, who has completed shooting for the next film, Yaaram, in Mauritius, shared that it “will not be about woman-bashing”. “It’s a beautiful love story and also stars Siddhanth Kapoor and Prateik Babbar. It’s very different from the films I’ve done. This one won’t be about woman-bashing (alluding to PKP).” She added, “PKP only tried to show a caricature of some women, who have been a certain way (bitchy) in certain situations. There are a few nuances that one can relate to, like being insecure or jealous, but that’s a very human characteristic.”

Asked if she wants to work with any specific filmmakers, Ishita mentioned Sanjay Leela Bhansali, but went on to add, “I’m happy and willing to work with people who want to work with me.”

I’d like to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The way he exhibits character of a woman is larger than life and beautiful. I’d also love to work with Luv (Ranjan) sir again. ISHITA RAJ SHARMA ACTOR
