Ewan McGregor’s special Christopher Robin connect
Often hailed as one of the finest actors of his generation, Ewan McGregor consistently captivates audiences with diverse roles across genres and styles. The 47-year-old Trainspotting (1996) star will next be seen in the film Christopher Robin, inspired by the beloved Winnie the Pooh books. The film sees a grown-up Christopher Robin, played by McGregor, who reunites with his friends, Winnie and co. The actor said he immediately related to the character.
“I was quite charmed by the script. I loved that they made Christopher Robin a man my age and that Winnie the Pooh comes back to him at a difficult time in his life. I found that really moving,” he was quoted as saying.
“Christopher is the father of a daughter who he’s not very close to, and he recognises that and would like to be closer to her. You get the feeling that she would like to be closer to her dad as well, and there’s something about this coming together of a father and his daughter that really appealed to me as a father of girls,” he added.
Recalling his “fond” childhood memories, McGregor revealed that he read the books to his children as well.
“I remember the books, obviously. They were read to me when I was a little boy and I remember being very fond of them, and I read them to my children as well,” he said, further revealing that he even had a bear-shaped stuffed toy, which looked a lot like Winnie the Pooh.
“I had a bear like Winnie the Pooh… It was a sort of oldfashioned bear with arms and legs that had those funny joints. It wasn’t a Winnie the Pooh bear, but it was very much like him. And when I acted with our Winnie the Pooh. it reminded me of my old bear,” he said.
