I always think that nothing should go wrong in a film because of me: Kumud

Actor Kumud Mishra is enjoying all praise that’s coming his way for his performance in the recently released courtroom drama, Mulk, where he plays the role of a judge.

“It’s always nice when people appreciate your work. What made it [even more] special was that I hadn’t expected it [appreciation] at all,” says Mishra.

He adds,“What I only wanted was that since I was going to be a part of a film like this, anything shouldn’t go wrong because of me. Your character in the film sometimes enters at a critical time. If it starts off on the wrong note, or if the dialogues are incorrect, the desired effect can’t be created.”

The actor has been seen in several movies such as Rockstar (2011), Jolly LLB 2 (2017) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017). Ask him how he chooses his films and what are the criteria for him to say yes, and he shares, “It’s important that the script should be good. The space you get [in such roles], is very less. You have to show your talent in that specific time, and do justice to your character.”

The actor adds that peoples’ reactions are, of course, one of the worrying factors. “This thing is always at the back of your head that people should not criticise your performance. My director [Anubhav Sinha] and I worked on this character. However, you only get to know the fate of your film after the first screening. My friends started calling me up, then I thought that I have done some decent work,” he signs off.
