Actor Taapsee Pannu is all set to showcase her Punjabi roots in her next film, Manmarziyaan. And it isn’t just Taapsee who is excited about that fact — her family in Delhi and Amritsar are lauding her character in the film and showering compliments on her.

The actor plays a young, carefree Sikh girl, Rumi, who doesn’t hold back when it comes to speaking her mind. Taapsee is known to be equally quirky and fun-loving in real life, too.

“Taapsee’s family and extended family know how her personality is behind the camera. So when they see her onscreen character Rumi bring out the true blue Punjabi inside her, on the screen, they really enjoyed that bit in the trailer,” a source close to the actor says.

Taapsee, who has already proved her versatility with her roles in Pink (2016), Naam Shabana (2017), and her powerpacked performances in this year’s Soorma and Mulk, has won her praise and plaudits from her relatives throughout the country.

“Though my parents have seen me in all possible avatars, my extended family is pretty excited since the time they have gotten to know Manmarziyaan is a story based in Amritsar. They are looking forward to the Amritsari swag to show in the film and to see me as a feisty Punjabi kudi,” says Taapsee.
