Actor Aman Verma’s upcoming film is based on the transgender community in India and the issues that they face, especially when it comes to practising equal rights.

The actor, who will be playing the role of a strongheaded and an aggressive lawyer in the film titled Hansa — Ek Sanyog, feels sad that this community is constantly marginalised.

The 46-year-old actor says, “The third gender is there [a part of] in the society and we see them everywhere, so shying away and not giving them their place is sad.”

He adds, “If you give them a [right to do a] job [just like everybody else] they are ready to work. Even today, in the voter’s list, when they ask you for your sex, it just has two boxes male and female. There is no third box, and that’s how it is in our country.”

Describing about his role, the antagonist lawyer, Aman shares, “I loved playing this character. He could go to any extent in order to win a case, and always wants everyone under his wing.”

The movie is being directed by Santosh Kashyap and Dhiraj Verma, and Aman says that he hopes many such films are made. “I hope such kind of films are made more often so that the hidden part of the society, which many don’t talk about, come out in the open.”
