In search of one’s true self
I ndia is a land of stunning diversity, beauty, different religions, and spirituality. However, all religions hope to achieve a common element — spiritual transcendence. International photographer Leonid Plotkin manages to capture this and more through stunning images, which he clicked when he visited the Indian subcontinent intermittently over two decades.
The best of the lot have made it to the book titled Nostalgia for Eternity that takes you on a meditative and visual journey along with the Tantrics, Nihangs, Sufis and every other pilgrim/spiritual sect that you have ever heard of (or not). Chaos, colour, zen, dedication and the richness of religion without any sense of judgment is what’s the most appealing part of this book. And the supporting text helps one understand the dedication of these people, who hope to achieve nirvana or transcendence. The book is collector’s piece, a journey in itself.
