Veteran actor Satish Kaushik had a blast shooting for director Ali Abbas Zafar’s upcoming film, Bharat, at Valletta, Mdina and Birgu in Malta, with Salman Khan. The film was in news recently, when actor Priyanka Chopra opted out of the project, and Katrina Kaif stepped in as the female lead.

Calling the film’s scale “epic”, Satish says, “The project is shaping up really well under the captainship of Ali. I had a lot of fun on the set. Though I can’t reveal anything about my character, I play a unique and quirky role. The production is of Hollywood standards.”

Satish reveals that he had a lot of fun with Salman and other co-stars during filming. Not many people know that Satish shares a close bond with Salman. Having been friends for many years, the duo knows how to keep each other relaxed on set. “Having Salman as a co-star is always a delight. We celebrated 15 years of Tere Naam (2003; Kaushik directed the Salman-starrer hit) on August 15 in a unique way. We revisited our old days and partied all night,” he says.

He adds that Salman came up with a unique idea to break the monotony of the shoot schedule on the last day in Malta. Salman, along with Satish and Sunil Grover, visited a restaurant in Birgu to gorge on local delicacies.

“It was a nice break for us. During lunch breaks, the unit normally eats the low-calorie food that’s prepared on set, but Salman offered to treat me and Sunil for lunch. We enjoyed a dish called Simply Chicken, which was deliciously grilled with mushrooms and sauce, and Maltese Salad,” Satish signs off.

Having Salman Khan as a costar is always a delight. We celebrated 15 years of Tere Naam on August 15 in a unique way... We partied all night.
