When Varun, Anushka stayed in guest houses

-

Bollywood stars are associated with luxuries of all kinds, including stays in the best hotels across the globe. But Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan took a very different route during the shoot of their new film, Sui Dhaaga – Made in India. Since the two play simple, village folk who live in the heartland of India, the makers felt it was essential for them to travel to some remote areas in the country to bring authenticity to the look and feel of the film.

But unlike big metros, small towns don’t have swanky hotels, and according to a source close to the unit, the actors had to stay in guest houses. “As soon as Varun and Anushka were made aware of the situation, they were more than happy to stay in the accommodations available in small towns — small guest houses,” the source says. In the movie — directed by Sharat Katariya (of Dum Laga Ke Haisha; 2015) and produced by Maneesh Sharma — Anushka plays Mamta, an embroiderer, and Varun portrays Mauji, a tailor.

When contacted, Anushka said, “We wanted to make a film that looks as authentic as possible and we went to shoot at really interesting locations. The trailer of the film is getting so much love, because Sharat (Katariya) and Maneesh (Sharma) are ensuring that we make a genuine film that touches people’s hearts. From day one, we were on board to shoot at these locations, which are gorgeous and beautiful and add purity to the narrative.”

Varun feels that making the film as genuine and authentic as possible was more important than where they were staying. “We lived extremely comfortably and blended with the milieu of the location and became the characters that we were playing. We had a great time living in these towns and making new friends. The locals were lovely. They showered us with a lot of love, affection and care,” he says.

THE ACTORS STAYED IN A SMALL TOWN FOR THE FILMING. DUE TO LACK OF SWANKY HOTELS, THEY HAD TO MAKE DO WITH GUEST HOUSES
