A smashing start for Stree

-

Dinesh Vijan’s Stree seems to have outdone itself at the box office. Produced under the banner of Maddock Films in association with D2R Films, the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer is a perfect blend of thrills and laughs.

Known for films such as Cocktail (2012), Badlapur(2015) and Hindi Medium (2017), Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films is ecstatic and humbled by all the love Stree is receiving.

“This year has been exceptional for the industry and I am glad Stree has contributed to it. It’s always encouraging when your hard work pays off, it pushes us to do better every time,” he says.

Although, the film had a very modest budget to work with, it has managed to impress the audience and the critics alike. Known for their trademark quirky humour, co-producers and writers, Raj & DK are thrilled that their desi horror comedy has been a hit at the box office. “The response is truly overwhelming. It’s a script that’s been close to our heart ever since we wrote it. We were waiting for the right time to make it. I now think we chose the right script to turn producers with,” says the duo.

The story, which revolves around a quaint town haunted by a unique ghost, Stree, is turning out to be one of the smash hits of the year.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better film for my debut as a director. It’s extremely satisfying to know that we have been able to make audiences, critics and our producers very happy,” says a delighted Amar Kaushik.
