Shah Rukh gave Kubbra Sait her ‘biggest moment’
Actor Kubbra Sait, a big fan of Shah Rukh Khan, was absolutely thrilled when, on a certain occasion, the superstar called her name on the stage. She says, “I still celebrate the day when I first met Shah Rukh Khan. One can’t just have a crush on him; he is a person whom you love. I remember when he walked on the stage and called my name, ‘Kubra’ — that was the biggest moment of my life, and till now I cherish that moment.”
The 25-year-old actor has had small roles in films such as Sultan (2016), Ready (2011), and City of Life (2009), but it’s her role of a transgender woman named Kukoo in the web series Sacred Games that has made her a name in the entertainment industry.
Talking about life after the success of the series, Kubbra says, “Sacred Games is a huge milestone in my career — I’ve never [before] received such fame, attention and success in my life. Now, the media are interviewing me, and photographers are capturing me. I’m enjoying this limelight. I’m grateful to God and the makers of the show for giving me the opportunity to play such a vital role.”
The actor is overwhelmed by the response that her character has got from viewers. She says, “Like people, I’m also obsessed with Kukoo. I have a life-size poster of Kukoo in my room.”
While many actors have freely talked about their struggle in the world of cinema, Kubbra has a different take. “I don’t believe in struggle,” she says. “Struggle is a state of mind. People choose to struggle when they don’t want to relax. Sometimes [life] is not on your side — so relax, calm down. No matter how hard the waves are, you will float on the ocean.”
The actor adds, “I’m a very positive person... One should treat herself/himself as a goddamn brand. Do something you’re good at.”
