Bringing two art genres together
India is the land of the old and new, and of rootedness and flight. And juxtaposing the nation’s rich, diverse culture was this art exhibition that opened recently in the Capital.
Titled Ascending Roots, the exhibition, which showcased works by 10 indigenous and urban contemporary artists, strives to bring together folk as well as contemporary art. It has 70 artworks in various mediums including paintings, sculpture, drawings, acrylic on canvas, and oil on canvas. Among those who were present at the event included art curator Ina Puri and art collector Mitchell Crites.
