Why did Saurabh Pandey decide to take a break?

His last TV show Suryaputra Karn went off air in 2016. Since then, actor Saurabh Pandey hasn’t signed a new show on the small screen. Why? Because he fears getting typecast, he reveals.

“(After) Suryaputra Karn got over, I started getting offers for only mythological shows. But, I did not want to do them. What is the point of doing the same thing back to back? I thought of taking a break from doing the same thing. Now, I am talking to people and figuring out what to do next,” says the actor, before adding, “I want to do a show that has an urban setting in the backdrop.”

His wife Zara Barring, who made her acting debut with Razia Sultan, is also keen on doing more TV shows. “She is also open to do more work on TV. We would love to work on a show together. There have been a few offers, let’s see what works out,” he says.

Saurabh and Zara tied the knot last year in November. Recently, they visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar (Punjab), to seek blessings. “Zara is a Punjabi and in all Punjabi families, it’s a tradition to go to the Golden Temple for blessings after getting married. It was long overdue, as my wife was in Canada for the last few months due to work commitments. So as soon as she got back , we went to there,” he shares.

Saurabh is all praise for the Gurudwara. “What I love about Golden Temple is that there is no discrimination. It doesn’t matter whether you are a Hindu, Muslim, Christian or from any religion. Regardless of your colour, caste or creed, the Darbaar is open for all. It’s a symbol of oneness. Another amazing part is that the Golden Temple is open for 24hrs and the langar is also served around the clock,” he says.

I was getting offers for mythological shows only. But, I did not want to do the same thing back to back.
