SHRADDHA’S MIND IS OCCUPIED WITH THE SAINA BIOPIC
Ending the speculation that the biopic on badminton player Saina Nehwal might get shelved, the project is finally back on track. And actor Shraddha Kapoor, who is playing the lead, feels that it’s one-of-its -kind opportunity.
Owing to the fact that Saina has made the country proud with her achievements, Shraddha feels privileged that she was chosen to portray her character on screen.
“Right now, my mind is occupied with Saina Nehwal biopic. I’ve been prepping for it including reading [sessions] and practising badminton to get her style, postures, and everything as correct as possible. So, my focus is all on that,” says, Shraddha, who has started shooting for the film.
The actor has met Sania quite a few times, and has even visited her house. Talking about it she says that “it was wonderful meeting the family” and she was touched by the way everyone treated her. “Saina is an awesome person. She made our country so proud. I met her a couple of times and she is so nice and humble, like any of us,” says Shraddha, adding that Saina has been very cooperative throughout and is always ready to help.
Meanwhile, there were reports that the film might not see the light of the day because Shraddha has been unable to pull off her character well. But, Amole Gupte, the director clarified that the film is happening. When asked what actually had happened when these reports surfaced, Shraddha calls them false in the first place. “I don’t know where did those reports come from. Nothing like that happened. In fact, at that time I had started my prep. Sometimes, it’s really important that the right kind of information goes out,” says the actor, who is also doing the bilingual film Saaho.
Shraddha says that soon she will start working on another film. However, she won’t reveal anything about it till an official announcement is made.
