It makes full sense to repeat clothes: Soundarya

- Prerna Gauba prerna.gauba@htlive.com

Actor Soundarya Sharma was born and brought up here in Delhi — a city she loves for its food and fashion, especially. “No matter wherever I go in the world Dilli-pana nahi jaega (my Delhiness will stay intact),” chuckles Sharma, as she gets talking to us about being a fashion enthusiast, a fitness freak, and how she takes care of her skin to keep it nourished.

The actor believes that fashion is an expression of emotions and personality, so she gets inspired “by anyone and everyone who is wearing a great piece and carrying herself with confidence.”

She also digs sustainable fashion. “There is too much pressure on us to not repeat clothes, especially for events when you have paparazzi all around you. But it’s changing. My generation doesn’t think like that! Because whosoever it’s in the world, no one really buys anything just to wear it once and dump it. We must support openly the conscious effort of repeating clothes which many stars are doing now,” says the 21-year-old.

Here’s all you need to know about Soundarya’s fashion statement, beauty regime and diet plan. When it comes to beauty treatments, do you opt for home remedies? If yes, can you share a few of your favourite remedies with the readers?

I don’t even bleach because it has peroxide, which is not good for our sensitive skin.

I moisturise my skin a lot, [and] at times, I apply homemade cucumber paste. A tomato scrub [is something] I use once in 15 days! It exfoliates the dead skin.

Do you follow a diet or fitness regime?

As an actor I have to follow a certain diet and a fitness regime. Not only to look good but to have a disciplined and healthy life! I eat one tablespoon of basil seeds, 12 overnight soaked almonds, 3 walnuts, muesli and an apple, and drink 3 glasses of water in the morning, followed by some ginger honey tea.

I eat chapati and sabzi for lunch with some lentils, followed by fruits and salads.

For dinner, which I mostly eat early, around 7pm, I prefer to go for soups or vegetables. I avoid eating carbs in the night.

Talking about my workout regime, I do acrobatics and yoga followed by stretching almost everyday. Being a Delhi girl, what were your favourite places to shop in the city?

I [would] love shopping at Khan Market, GK M Block, Janpath... these were my favs during college days. I have also been to Sarojini Market at times.

You are quite active on social media. What’s your take on trolls? Have you experienced any trolling? If yes, how did you deal with it?

I think, it’s a sick state of mind [with which] people go out on a rant, and talk negative on the pretext of freedom of expression! Freedom of expression doesn’t allow anybody to talk only negative in the world. The portals that do it to grab eyeballs should get a reality check that people are very sensible now. They don’t really believe all that negative [stuff] all the time. So far, people and fans have been really supportive and loving towards me I haven’t experienced anything [like trolling] but I keep seeing all this which happens to other celebs, and it is sad! Nobody gives anyone the right to criticise the stars all the time even when it’s not required, especially in personal matters.
